The Chinese National Defense University Alumni Association of Sri Lanka was founded on 30th July 2020 after a long process of preparation from 2015 to 2019 by a cohort of Sri Lankan Military Officers (From tri services) who completed advanced strategic studies at the International College of Defense Studies of National Defense University, People's liberation Army in Beijing, China. What began as an informal circle of course mates has, over six years, grown into a formally registered National Alumni Association spanning the armed forces, public service, academia, and private industry of Sri Lanka and China.
Today the Association represents over seventy senior officers from Tri services of Sri Lanka who have been graduated in International College of Defense Studies of National Defense University in Beijing, China, since 2001-2002. Executive Committee of the association is coordinating few major events in liaison with Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka together with the staff thus keeping alive the personal bonds of friendship formed for the first time in South Asia.

Support defence diplomacy and cultural exchange between Sri Lanka and the People's Republic of China.
Promote continued learning through symposiums, scholarships, and joint research initiatives.
The Association maintains an active institutional relationship with the National Defense University in Beijing, including annual delegation visits, joint scholarship allocations, and participation in defense studies conferences. This partnership is formalized through annual events held successfully.
Recognized by the Ministry of Defense as an official alumni body, the Association contributes to National strategic dialogue, supports veteran welfare initiatives, and and maintaining close relationship with with sister institutions.
First cohort of graduates establishes the Association in Colombo.
Formally registered as a national alumni body, enabling structured partnerships.
Held a meeting through live system with NDU authority that help gaining more recognition.
Allowed inaugural EXCO to continue with good work.
Ten officers representing tri services as per their seniority and present appointments were selected to participate the visit.
